Updated: Jun 19

CAED Deputy Director (International), A/Professor Fay Rola-Rubzen, has been instrumental in setting up a cooperation agreement with Indonesian's top university, Bogor Agricultural University or Institut Pertanian Bogor (IPB), to establish a joint Masters program in agricultural economics.

During 2023, A/Prof Fay Rola-Rubzen, A/Professor James Fogarty and A/Professor Amin Mugera were in discussions with the Head of Economics, Dr. Tony Irawan, and the Vice Dean of Resource, Collaboration and Development, Professor Lukytawati Anggraeni, from the in Faculty of Economics and Management at IPB about the potential for collaborative research and teaching programs.

The discussions culminated in a visit to UWA on 23-24th May 2024 to build relationships and continue discussions on the Articulation Agreement for the Masters of AgEcon degree between the two universities.

The visit included Dr. Tony Irawan and Professor Lukytawati Anggraeni, as well as Professor Yusman Syaukat and Professor Hermanto Siregar from the IPB's Agricultural Economics Postgraduate Program, the Indonesian Embassy's Education and Culture Attaché, Mukhamad Najib, and other delegates.

The visitors were provided with a tour of UWA and met many of the lecturers at the UWA School of Agriculture and Environment, as well as some of the current postgraduate research students enrolled in Masters and PhD courses in agricultural economics.

Both universities recognised the benefits of collaboration and the potential it can have for significant impact on research and teaching outcomes.

"It is the appropriate time for IPB and UWA to commence the cooperation as the Indonesian government's support for double degree programs between universities in Indonesia and top overseas universities is strong," said Mukhamad Najib.

We look forward to welcoming Indonesian students to our School soon.
